About the Tippmann TiPX Pistol

Originally introduced as the TPX in 2009 and later refined into the TiPX in 2011, this pistol has earned a strong reputation among paintball enthusiasts for its compact design and robust performance. Constructed with a high-impact polymer body, the TiPX strikes an impressive balance between being lightweight and durable, making it an ideal choice for players who need a marker that’s easy to carry and handle during fast-paced gameplay. Its innovative under-barrel CO2 system and Tru-Feed Magazine distinguish it from other markers, offering a unique combination of realism and functionality that appeals to players who prioritize portability and reliability in their sidearms.

Key Features

  • Compact and Lightweight Design: Weighing approximately 2.5 lbs, the TiPX is engineered for ease of movement, making it perfect for close-quarters scenarios or as a backup weapon during extended matches. Its ergonomic grip is designed to provide comfort, even during prolonged use, ensuring players can maintain control in the heat of battle.
  • Under-Barrel CO2 System: Powered by 12-gram CO2 cartridges housed neatly under the barrel, this system enhances the pistol’s balance and allows for quick, glove-friendly loading with a simple 1/4 turn cap. This design minimizes downtime and keeps players in the game longer.
  • Tru-Feed Magazine: The 7-ball magazine features a straight-feed design with a low-tension spring system, ensuring consistent and reliable performance across a variety of weather conditions. It’s versatile enough to accommodate different paintball types, adding to its practicality.
  • Customizable: The TiPX accepts standard Tippmann A5/X7 threaded barrels and supports additional options like remote line adapters for HPA tanks, giving players the freedom to tailor the pistol to their specific playstyle or tactical needs.
  • Puncture Pin System: The TiPX features a unique puncture system. Instead of puncturing when the cartridge is first clamped down, the TiPX punctures the 12 gram with its metal trigger after the first trigger pull. The cartridge housing is separate of the magazine, meaning the 12 gram doesn't need to be replaced every time you change magazines. The Co2 cap is adjustable, so you can be sure your cartridge is getting the perfect amount of pressure put on it. The cap is also only a 1/4th turn, instead of being threaded. This makes screwing it in, and taking it out a breeze.

Comparison to Other Tippmann Models

When compared to full-sized markers like the Tippmann TMC or Tippmann 98, the TiPX offers a distinctly portable, pistol-style experience that shines in close-quarters combat or as a secondary weapon. Unlike the TMC, which is built for MILSIM enthusiasts with its extensive modularity and upgrade potential, the TiPX focuses on simplicity and agility with its magazine-fed design. The Tippmann Stormer, another popular option, weighs in at around 3.5 lbs and is geared more toward beginners with its hopper-fed system, but it lacks the pistol’s compactness and quick-draw capability.

Which Version Do You Have?

The Tippmann TiPX Pistol is primarily available in a single standard model, with variations mostly limited to color options (such as black or steel grey) and accessory packages like the deluxe kit, which bundles extras like additional magazines and a holster. Here’s a breakdown to help you identify your setup:

  • TPX (Original): This had a main valve that was a bit more complicated.  The valve must be upgraded to the TiPX valve if you want to add the remote line adaptor.
  • Standard TiPX: The base model, offering a reliable and customizable platform for players who want a no-frills, high-performance pistol.
  • Current TiPX: The most current version came out in about 2022.  It has a simpler valve that is not adjustable.  The older valve is no longer available.  Older TiPX's can use the newest valve.
