The Tippmann 98 Ultra Basic is the least expensive of the Tippmann 98 series. The Tippmann 98 shares similar internal operating systems as the US Army paintball guns and the Tippmann A5. Unlike the other Tippmann 98 editions, the Ultra Basic does not come with the “Anti Chop system” (ACT). The ACT helps to keep paintballs from breaking during a jam. The reason to choose this model instead of one of the other 98’s is either to save money, or install the Cyclone hopper. With the Cyclone hopper system, the ACT is redundant. Like all 98 paintball guns, the Ultra Basic has a lot of upgrades available. These include barrels, two finger triggers, electronics, reactive triggers, and much more.
All Tippmann 98’s we sell are the current Platinum series. This current version of the 98 allows for easy maintenance without risk of all the internal parts coming out.
Tippmann Parts Staff thoughts:
Reasons to get the 98 Ultra basic: This is the least expensive of the metal body Tippmann markers. It has a lot of upgrades and years of reliability.
Alternative options: If you plan to fire rapidly with a RT trigger mod, you might consider the 98 ACT version. For a few dollars more, it has an anti chop feature included. If you want a marker with similar internals and more features (but fewer upgrades) and less expensive, you might consider the Tippmann Cronus or Tippmann Stormer.
Last Note: Don't forget about the reward points if you purchase this. Lot's of savings.

The adjustable stock and tube assembly is an awesome upgrade to the already phenomenal Stormer! Look and feel of a real AR system rifle. Only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that the set **** didn't come with the package. Had to head on over to the local hardware store to find the right one. 15 cent thing to truly make it a "ready to go" package would've made the difference. Other than that, glad Tippmann offers this upgrade to the Basic Stormer.
